Today there's a grand recital in Major Land, the land of joyful music. Hummy, the fairy of song, is singing the Song of Happiness from the Legendary Score to grant peace to the world's people, when... The king of Minor Land, the land of sorrowful music, Mephisto, takes the Legendary Score trying to fill the world with sadness! At that point, Aphrodite, the queen of Major Land, has an idea - she scatters the notes within the Score around the human world! Meanwhile, at private Aria Junior Academy, Hibiki Houjou and Kanade Minamino are childhood friends, but today they're arguing just like always. The two of them used to be great friends, but once they fight they can't make up. Hibiki thinks of when she was little, and Kanade was her best friend... Then a girl calling herself Ellen approaches her, saying there's no such thing as friends. As she says that, she transforms into a black cat! It was Siren, the song fairy of Minor Land! And at that instant, a cat crying out falls from the sky! That's right, it's Hummy! Then Kanade bumps into them with a recording of her memories with Hibiki. Hidden inside the recording is a note of the Legendary Score! When Hummy tries to take it, Siren changes the distorted sounds the recording makes into a monster called a Negatone! For a precious keepsake to be turned into that sort of monster...! That definitely can't be forgiven! Just then, the G Clefs on Hibiki and Kanade's heart symbols start glowing! Could the two of them be...the legendary Pretty Cure warriors?!

Hibiki and Kanade have transformed into Cure Melody and Cure Rhythm. They have no idea what to do, but they have to hurry up and stop the monster! The two of them surround the Negatone on both sides! ...But they miss and crash right into each other! Their voices coordinate perfectly, but their movements don't match up at all... The impact detransforms them, too. They both start arguing again about which one of them messed up!! Kanade turns down the task of being a Pretty Cure, and heads home. Why do the two of them just fight? The start of their arguments was an incident on the day of the middle school entrance ceremony... As they're arguing, Siren and Trio the Minor appear before them again! Will Hibiki and Kanade be able to transform into Pretty Cure at this rate?
